Village de Sancerre

Sancerre rouge AOP

Perched on its rocky outcrop, the village of Sancerre, after which the appellation is named, overlooks the surrounding valleys and hillsides. Its medieval streets and church, built more than three centuries ago, bear witness to a past rich in history. Damien Laurent selected this village to create a wine that reflects the distribution of two emblematic terroirs: Caillottes (limestone) and Silex (flint).

Our cuvée ‘Village de Saint-Andelain’ comes from a blend of Caillottes (limestone) and Silex (flint). Damien meticulously orchestrates this blend to respect his terroirs and express the nuances of Pinot Noir.

Village Cuvées

We are highlighting our villages!

Each village reveals a unique identity: a richness shaped by its terroirs, its secrets, and the stories carried by the women and men who bring them to life. From the hilltop of Sancerre to the gentle hills of Verdigny, and the butte of Saint-Andelain overlooking the Loire, each place is distinguished by its landscape and exposure.

Each cuvée expresses precisely the balance of the terroirs within its commune. Savor the soul of a village through a wine: a unique experience crafted by Damien Laurent for Domaine Fournier Père & Fils.

VINIFICATION & ÉLEVAGE

Like great white wines, Pinot Noir is also grown in Sancerre and produces fine, delicate reds. The vines, over 45 years old, are planted on the slopes of 50% Caillottes and 50% Silex. These alkaline, organic-rich soils are unique in the Loire Valley. Harvested by hand at dawn, the grapes ferment for three weeks in truncated cone-shaped vats. Aging in oak barrels brings this cuvée to perfection. Damien chose this vinification and ageing process to respect his terroirs and express the nuances of Pinot Noir.

ACCORDS METS & VINS

Our Sancerre Rouge pairs with roast poultry, beef bourguignon, or duck breast with cherries. It also goes well with a porcini mushroom risotto or oven-roasted vegetables.
