Village Cuvées
Pouilly-Fumé AOP
On the right bank of the Loire, in the heart of the Pouilly-Fumé appellation, stands the village of Saint-Andelain. Perched on a flint-rich hill, its imposing church can be seen from far away on the horizon from afar. The village is surrounded by gently sloping hillsides, whose vines took root in a mosaic of terroirs: 5% Calcaire (limestone), 40% Silex (flint), and 55% Kimmeridgian marls.
Our cuvée ‘Village de Saint-Andelain’ comes from a blend of Calcaire (limestone), Silex (flint), and Kimmeridgian marls. Damien skilfully blends these three exceptional terroirs to create a generous, expressive wine that reflects the identity of the commune.
We are highlighting our villages!
Each village reveals a unique identity: a richness shaped by its terroirs, its secrets, and the stories carried by the women and men who bring them to life. From the hilltop of Sancerre to the gentle hills of Verdigny, and the butte of Saint-Andelain overlooking the Loire, each place is distinguished by its landscape and exposure.
Each cuvée expresses precisely the balance of the terroirs within its commune. Savor the soul of a village through a wine: a unique experience crafted by Damien Laurent for Domaine Fournier Père & Fils.
Planted mostly in the 1980s in Saint-Andelain, our vines are carefully tended by our vineyard manager, whose precise knowledge of each plot allows for meticulous work throughout the year. Vinified in stainless steel tanks and amphorae, this cuvée reveals its brilliance and minerality. After eight months of aging on fine lees, to build texture while preserving those mineral notes, the wine accurately expresses the balance between Kimmeridgian Marls and Silex (flint), revealing with precision the unique character of the village of Saint-Andelain.
Our Pouilly-Fumé pairs beautifully with pan-seared scallops with citrus, roasted sea bass fillet with aromatic herbs, and asparagus risotto.
The robe has a pale, brilliant yellow colour.
On the nose, the Silex (flint) brings finesse and minerality, with a clean and very pure expression. The Kimmeridgian marls, with a touch of Calcaire (limestone) completes the bouquet with ripe fruit notes.
On the palate, the wine is precise and finely chiseled. The minerality of the Silex (flint) carries through to the finish, with subtle gunflint notes, the hallmark of the terroir.
